A Walk Pleasing to God
A Walk Pleasing to God

1 Thessalonians 4:1 – Furthermore then we beseech you, brethren, and exhort you by the Lord Jesus, that as ye have received of us how ye ought to walk and to please God, so ye would abound more and more.
The Apostle Paul is exhorting the Thessalonians that they would abound in those things that would be pleasing to God. Most of us quickly learn what pleases or displeases our loved ones, friends, employers, and teachers. As we build our relationship with God, we learn what pleases and displeases God. No matter the life we have lived in the past, we can please God now! In the previous chapter of 1 Thessalonians Paul praises them for their faith and love. In chapter 4 he exhorts them to have self-control. He speaks of sanctification and holiness. Our walk must be holy and honest. We are also to increase our love for the brethren.
Enoch – His faith pleased God
Genesis 5:24 And Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him.
Hebrews 11:5-6 By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God. But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
For you to please God you must be pleased with God! Are you pleased with who He is? Are you pleased with His expectations for you? Let’s press forward in our walk of faith with Christ with even greater alacrity!
- Delight in the Company of God.
- Determine to walk in the Ways of God.
- Detest anything that would take you away from companionship with God.
