1 Corinthians 14:40 Let all things be done decently and in order.
The Apostle Paul addressed the church in Corinth to correct the disorder that the church was experiencing in many areas. Paul planned to visit the church and wanted them to put everything back in order before his appearance.
There is an amazing order to everything we see in creation. Whether we use a telescope, a microscope, or just look at God’s creation with our own eyes we see order. There was order in the Garden of Eden. We see God’s orderly hand everywhere we look.
God desires us to come before Him in an orderly manner. Moses gave detail to God’s expectation regarding the priesthood and worship at the Tabernacle. Worship was not to be haphazard.
Many of us become haphazard in ordering our personal lives. God gave us a spirit, soul, and body; and He has a management system that will work in all areas of our lives if we would submit to His authority. In the following verse we see spirit listed first, then soul, then last of all body.
1 Thessalonians 5:23 And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
We often put things in reverse. We may begin our day taking care of the body: eating, drinking, bathing, etc.; then going about our day while neglecting the spirit and sometimes the soul. God’s order is to put the spirit first – our spirit in tune with God’s Spirit through God and I time, which includes prayer and Bible time. During this time, our soul also gets challenged and fed. We should be starting our day with no anger or bitterness, full of the joy of the Lord and the love of God. Let’s start our day with God!
