Psalm 115:3 But our God is in the heavens: he hath done whatsoever he hath pleased.
Most of us in often in a hurry. We also like instant gratification. We have expectations of others and of God. But often when we are in a hurry, something happens to slow us down. We are hungry and must wait for a meal. Others disappoint us. We feel God doesn’t care.
Our impatience has to do with our wrong thinking. We want God and others to all fit into our way of thinking – to meet our expectations. However, we need to adjust our thinking to God’s ways. We should rest in the fact that God knows what He is doing. God is never in a rush, nor is He ever late. He is on His schedule.
We must rest in knowing that all the circumstances of our life are in God’s hands. He will not put on us more than we can bear. When we are impatient, God is not pleased. Our impatience shows God that we don’t trust Him. God is in the process of making us into the image of Christ (Rom. 8:29). He uses the following: The Word of God (reading, teaching, preaching, meditating), People (leaders, teachers, friends, relatives, officials), Circumstances both good and bad, the Holy Spirit and time. God is the potter; we are the clay. God does good work. Philippians 1:6 Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:
When dealing with hardship, delay, the shortcoming of others, and unmet expectations we can remain calm. God gives us the patience we need, because He is the God of patience. God uses hardships, delays, the shortcoming of others, and unmet expectations to mold us into the image He has planned for us. We must trust Him! God does good work!
Isaiah 26:3 Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.
