Luke 23:33 And when they were come to the place, which is called Calvary, there they crucified him, and the malefactors, one on the right hand, and the other on the left.

Who is guilty of crucifying Jesus?

The Romans were guilty.

• Herod and the soldiers - Luke 23:11 And Herod with his men of war set him at nought, and mocked him, and arrayed him in a gorgeous robe, and sent him again to Pilate.
• Pontius Pilate - Matthew 27:26 Then released he Barabbas unto them: and when he had scourged Jesus, he delivered him to be crucified.

The Jews were guilty.

• The High Priest, the Sanhedrin, the priests and leaders and a multitude led Jesus to Pilate. (Luke 23:1).
• The people - Matthew 27:25 Then answered all the people, and said, His blood be on us, and on our children.

We are guilty. – Jesus went to the cross in our place, to redeem us from our sins. John 10:15-18 As the Father knoweth me, even so know I the Father: and I lay down my life for the sheep. And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd. Therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again. No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again.

Romans 5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

2 Corinthians 5:21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

Hebrews 12:2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

1 John 4:19 We love him, because he first loved us.

Note: As we meditate upon what Jesus has done for us, we should desire to love Him and serve Him so much more!
