Luke 23:33 And when they were come to the place, which is called Calvary, there they crucified him, and the malefactors, one on the right hand, and the other on the left.
In our minds as we read the gospels, we would believe that the people who most greatly deserved the wrath of God would be those who mocked and killed Jesus Christ. However, it was upon Jesus that the wrath of God came, as He bore our sins in His pure, sinless body on the cross.
Isaiah 53:4-6 Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.
If people truly knew who Jesus was thy would not have crucified Him.
a. The Lord of Glory - 1 Corinthians 2:8 Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.
b. The Holy One and Just AND The Prince of Life - Acts 3:14-15 But ye denied the Holy One and the Just, and desired a murderer to be granted unto you; And killed the Prince of life, whom God hath raised from the dead; whereof we are witnesses.
c. The Son of God - John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
d. In the Gospel of John He is called the Word, the Way, the Truth and the Life, and He is also called the Lamb of God, the Bread of Life, the Light of the World, the Good Shepherd, the Resurrection and the Life.
Christ rose from the dead and has ascended into heaven. He is calling sinners to come to Him.
Paul said to the jailer Acts 16:31 And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.
Romans 10:9-10 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
Christian – The cross of Christ is a demonstration of God’s love for you. It should be a motivator for you to renew your love for God. 1 John 4:19 We love him, because he first loved us.
