DELIGHT THYSELF ALSO IN THE LORD - PSALM 37:4

Psalm 37:4 Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.

We are quick to occupy our minds with our problem. Things go wrong, and our focus goes to fixing the problem. Looking at our problems and circumstances can easily depress us. God wants our primary focus to be on Him - to delight in Him. God is the object of our faith. Our happiness doesn't depend upon our circumstances, but upon God.

DELIGHT - To affect with great pleasure; to please highly; to give or afford high satisfaction or joy; (Websters 1828)

To delight in God is to delight in His Person; His attributes: He is Almighty God. He is everywhere present. He is all knowing. He is Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We delight in His love, righteousness, mercy, grace, kindness, and goodness. When we are facing life's difficulties it is a good thing to focus on these attributes of God. We delight in His Word. We read, study, meditate upon, memorize, and obey the Word of God. We delight in spending time with God in His Word and in prayer. God delights in those who delight in Him - those who obey Him and live uprightly.

Jeremiah 9:24 But let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth me, that I am the LORD which exercise lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness, in the earth: for in these things I delight, saith the LORD.

Do you delight in God and His delights?
