Our sanctification is the process of a lifetime. It is God working in us that we might be partakers of His holiness. It is a progressive work of the Holy Spirit that begins with our salvation and ends with our glorification in heaven. The Holy Spirit convicts us of sin and opens our eyes to spiritual truth from the Word of God. There is a major element to our growth as a Christian that is sometimes neglected in talking about sanctification.
Ephesians 4:11-13 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:
The preaching and teaching ministry of the church is often neglected by Christians. Christian growth is not just a do-it-yourself process. We all need to hear the Word of God preached and taught. If that wasn’t so, then why did Jesus Christ gift the church with those who can preach and teach? The results of a preaching and teaching ministry includes the following:
· Perfecting of the saints
· Work of the ministry
· Edifying of the body of Christ
· Unity of belief
· Knowledge of Christ
· Maturity in Christ in spirit, soul and body; spiritually and emotionally strong
· All members work in love to help and strengthen one another in the church (v. 16).
Thought: The church service that you missed might have been the one you needed the most.
Thought #2 – Try to be a blessing and encourager to someone in our church.
