DON’T REJECT YOUR ONLY HOPE OF HEAVEN
He [Jesus] came unto his own, and his own received him not. But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name. John 1:11-12
Jesus was rejected of His own people. When He preached in Nazareth, His hometown, the people cast Him out of the city and tried to cast Him headlong over the brow of a hill. Jesus escaped (Luke 4:28-30). After healing two demon possessed men, the whole Gergesenes community besought Jesus to leave their coasts (Matthew 8:34). A village of the Samaritans did not receive Jesus (Luke 9:52-53). As Jesus taught in Capernaum, many who had somewhat of an interest in Jesus drew back and quit following Him (John 6:66). And of course, Jesus was rejected in Jerusalem in favor of Barabbas, a criminal (Matthew 27:21).
Not only was Jesus rejected in all geographical places in the country, but He was rejected by the priests, the scribes, and all the religious and political parties: Sadducees, Pharisees, Herodians, etc. (Matthew 22:34-35, Mark 3:6). They often tried to find fault with Jesus. They played word games trying to get Jesus to say the wrong thing. They investigated His moral life. Pilate could find no fault in Him (John 18:38), yet he had Jesus crucified. They all rejected their only hope of salvation.
In today’s American society it is often not politically correct to mention the name of Jesus. Ben Carson was asked at the 2013 National Prayer Breakfast to not mention Jesus. He did anyway. Often military and police chaplains feel intimidated to mention Jesus’ name, though if they are in the gospel ministry, they have a right and duty to preach Jesus. Liberal churches who are members[RC1] of the World Council of Churches teach that Jesus is a mere human who said some nice things, but did not rise from the dead, nor does His death have any meaning to them besides showing that Jesus died for His own personal beliefs. Even the Intelligent Design scientists and proponents do not mention Jesus. They confront evolution, and teach creation; however, Jesus is left out of the equation. Multitudes are rejecting their only hope of eternal life.
Have you received Jesus as your Savior? Do not reject Him. He is our only hope. No other “religion” has an answer for how we can get our sins forgiven. Not eastern religions, not Islam, not humanist. You must repent and believe on and receive Jesus Christ as your Savior. There is no hope of heaven for the person who rejects Jesus.
Acts 4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.
