GOD IS FAITHFUL …
1 Corinthians 10:13b
From 1 Corinthians 10:1-14 we see many ways in which God is faithful:
- God made a dry path through the Red Sea for Moses and the Hebrews to walk through.
- God fed Moses and the Hebrews in the wilderness.
- God provided for their physical and spiritual thirst.
- God faithfully gave us the Old Testament so we would be able to learn and not make the same mistakes many made in the past.
- God enables us to overcome every temptation.
- God makes a way for us to escape every temptation.
- God directs us to flee idolatry (covetousness, Col. 3:5). He, therefore, enables us to flee. We can faithfully obey God because we know He is faithful.
Some other verses that attest to God’s faithfulness:
- Deuteronomy 7:9 Know therefore that the LORD thy God, he is God, the faithful God, which keepeth covenant and mercy with them that love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations;
- 1 Corinthians 1:9 God is faithful, by whom ye were called unto the fellowship of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord.
- 2 Thessalonians 3:3 But the Lord is faithful, who shall stablish you, and keep you from evil.
- Hebrews 10:23 Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;)
- Hebrews 11:11 Through faith also Sara herself received strength to conceive seed, and was delivered of a child when she was past age, because she judged him faithful who had promised.
- Jesus is called the “faithful and true witness” – Rev. 3:14
- Jesus is called “Faithful and True” – Rev. 19:11
God’s expectation of us is that we be faithful:
- Psalm 31:23a O love the LORD, all ye his saints: for the LORD preserveth the faithful …
- Psalm 101:6 Mine eyes shall be upon the faithful of the land, that they may dwell with me: he that walketh in a perfect way, he shall serve me.
- Matthew 25:21 His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.
- 2 Timothy 2:2 And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.
- Those who are with the Lamb (Jesus) are faithful. Rev. 17:14.
