Isaiah 9:6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counseller, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

History is ‘His Story’. The incarnation of Christ is the central event of world history. The year 2025 is quickly approaching. Our calendar is based upon the approximate time of Christ’s birth. Seven hundred years earlier, Isaiah had promised His birth. Dozens of other verses from the Old Testament are related to this event, but I would like to break down this one verse.

• A child is born - Philippians 2:6-7 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:
• A son is given - John 3:16-17 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
• The government shall be upon His shoulder: Ephesians 1:21-22 Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come: And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church,

His name shall be called…

• Wonderful - Matthew 21:15 And when the chief priests and scribes saw the wonderful things that he did, and the children crying in the temple, and saying, Hosanna to the Son of David; they were sore displeased,
• Counseller - 1 Corinthians 1:30 But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:
• The Mighty God - 1 John 5:20 And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.
• The Everlasting Father - Hebrews 2:13 And again, I will put my trust in him. And again, Behold I and the children which God hath given me.
• The Prince of Peace - Romans 5:1 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: Acts 3:14-15  But ye denied the Holy One and the Just, and desired a murderer to be granted unto you; And killed the Prince of life, whom God hath raised from the dead; whereof we are witnesses.
