The High Priest Aaron may have looked like that pictured above.
JESUS IS MY HIGH PRIEST
Jesus is my Lord; Jesus is my Saviour; He is my Deliverer, and He is also my Priest. I desire today to help you see Jesus also as your Priest. How does Jesus as Priest differ from His being Lord and Saviour?
Job desired a mediator to bring reconciliation with God. Job 9:33 Neither is there any daysman betwixt us, that might lay his hand upon us both. Job had three friends who counseled him, but he didn’t feel that they had his best interest at heart. He desired a True Mediator as we have in Jesus Christ. 1 Timothy 2:5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;
Under the law of Moses, the priests acted as mediators between the people and God. People were required to bring their sacrifices to a priest. Kings Saul and Uzziah both faced judgment because they offered their sacrifices and incense without a priest (1 Samuel 13; 2 Chronicles 26). Priests were also involved in the personal lives of the people often acting as judges, attorneys, and physicians.
Hebrews 8:1 Now of the things which we have spoken this is the sum: We have such an high priest, who is set on the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens; Hebrews 8:6 But now hath he obtained a more excellent ministry, by how much also he is the mediator of a better covenant, which was established upon better promises.
“The Sum” is that we have a High Priest in the heavens who is mediating on our behalf. Jesus was the perfect sacrifice, and He is the perfect High Priest. He intercedes on our behalf even when we are unaware. Jesus wants us to bring our sins, failures, adversities, worries, sicknesses, etc. to Him.
Hebrews 7:25-26 Wherefore he [Jesus] is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them. For such an high priest became us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens; Romans 8:34 Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.
1 Peter 5:7 Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.
How does seeing Jesus as your High Priest affect how you are dealing with various adversities and entanglements?
