Time for God
Make Time for God.
… That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man; That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God. Ephesians 3:14-19
As we see above, the Apostle Paul made spending time with God a priority. As we begin a new year let us make spending time with God a priority. We all need for God’s Spirit to work on our inner man. If you start your day with God, you will walk with Him in His strength and wisdom throughout the day. You are encouraged to have a prayer list and a reading plan. Read, study, memorize, and meditate. Find something in your reading that you can meditate on throughout the day. It is good to put some thoughts down on a 3 x 5 card or bible journal.
If you are a new Christian you are also encouraged to read a chapter a day from Psalms for worship, a chapter a day from Proverbs for wisdom, and at least a chapter from the New Testament. Keep a record of which chapters and books you read.
As you spend time with God, three amazing things will happen:
1. God will make you stronger
· Verse 16: “…to be strengthened with might by his spirit in the inner man.”
· It is wonderful to know that strength is available for all who will ask. Paul also said in 2 Corinthians 4:1: “The inward man is renewed day by day.”
2. God will fill you with the love of Christ.
· Verse 17: “…being rooted and grounded in love.”
· Because God is love, the Apostle Paul found that meeting with God made him sweeter.
3. God will make you wiser.
· Verse 18: “…may be able to comprehend.”
· With all that Paul had to do, he found that taking time for God made him able to comprehend and understand things much better.
· What an incentive program! To think that such a simple personal discipline in our lives as meeting with God daily can make us stronger, sweeter, and smarter!
My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O LORD; in the morning will
I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up. -- Psalm 5:3
